"Welcome"

I stuck my key in the front door and walked up the staircase to my apartment. I was a junior in college, and on such a huge campus, it felt easy to just be a number. I had been drinking at a bar down the street, and it was far too late for my apartment-mates to be awake. I quickly changed and rolled onto
my bed, hoping for a peaceful rest.

It was what felt like moments when a booming voice burst into the room through the ceiling. It told me, “Nathan, I am your lord! Trust in me and everything will be okay”. I sat up completely, unable to
articulate anything but “Yes, yes I will!” Moments later I was left alone in my room, unable to explain the supernatural experience.

For the following weeks, I started to hear noises. Very much like the low chatter of conversation at a party or a conference hall. But as time went on, the voices become less numerous and clearer. In fact, I started to believe that they came from the apartments across the street. Our windows and walls were
not to blame, as they were well insulated. I could only blame one thing, my technology. As it reached its climax, I started to be sure that I was being stalked from class to class. I was taking apart apartment light fixtures, looking for microphones. Certain someone had hacked my technology, I took all my Apple products to the nearest store, nearly 75 miles away from campus. It wasn’t until I showed up at my fathers work unannounced, again many miles from my school, that my
parents started taking notice. As spring pressed on, they realized that I was seriously ill, and withdrew me from college. It wasn’t until I saw several doctors before being diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia.

That was several years ago, but today I believe that my suffering and research about my disease makes
me knowledgeable. Should you be worried about a friend, family member, or your own health, please read on. I hope to give hope to anyone who might be suffering form this affliction or know someone suffering.
